Greetings! Hope the weather is fine where you are! Over here, it’s like this:
It’s been a week of headaches, tiredness, brain fog, and caution. Yup, after two-plus years avoiding this virus, my home test showed a very faint but positive result. We can finally check COVID-19 infection off our list, at least for me.
Thanks to luck and vaccines, my first experience with this illness was mild. I loaded up on ibuprofen, rest, and isolation – except that it’s impossible to isolate from each other in this house. My son needs hands-on care and can’t help leaning into my face often to get my attention. It’s madness to try to keep surfaces wiped down – he must touch everything we touch to recheck placement and positioning. And, it’s challenging to even lay down to rest. My son paces in and out of my room, nudges me, eventually demands, “Stand up.” He’s not used to seeing his mom inert.
Subsequent tests showed negative for all of us and confirmed that our son does not appreciate anyone sticking a swab up his nose. We’ll be back up and running soon.
It’s not lost on me that just two days after writing about my need to relax, the universe sent me COVID. That is NOT what I meant!
That’s the view from here - more soon!
