Greetings! Hope the weather is fine where you are! Over here, it’s like this:
My email inbox and computer desktop are cluttered with all things paused by the spirit of Christmas. Documents and communications await the return of normal routines.
On my desk, scraps of paper vie for attention: receipts and mail and scribbled to dos well past the chance of doing. New lists will be fashioned from the old, reflective of updated (and repeated) priorities for 2023.
There are decorations to be packed away, and ideally purged some – unless I leave that task (again) to next year.
There’s extra laundry to do, and a few photos to save somewhere.
Under our little tree, small, wrapped presents still wait for the young man who is not curious enough to open them.
Tins of cookies, stockings of candy, and stacks of leftovers are dissipating, soon to be replaced by less festive groceries and healthy New Year’s goals.
And, man, our floors are filthy.
I am eager to get to the cleaning, to set ourselves up to enter the New Year refreshed, straightened, ready.
Yet, this morning, it’s raining. The boy is sleeping in. Santa brought new books to read. And, that danish knows nothing of my diet plans.
The clean-up may just wait another day.
That’s the view from here - Happy New Year to you and yours! See you in 2023!
