Greetings! Hope the weather is fine where you are! Over here, it’s like this:
On our brief vacation in Northern Arizona, I kept an eye out for things that sparked our son’s interest. Perhaps he liked hiking in pine trees and cool breezes instead of cacti and sweat. He surely enjoyed grandma’s bottomless cookie jar and grandpa’s secret handshakes. He only participated in our jigsaw puzzle in a supervisory way, making sure we quickly fixed the scattered pieces into a more pleasing arrangement.
He expressed adamant disinterest in exploring a cave when he saw the small, dark hole we’d have to squeeze through to get inside. He seemed mildly entertained by the active bears at the wildlife park – and when he rounded a corner of the jaguar exhibit, coming face-to-face with two gorgeous big cats, that certainly grabbed his attention (at least until he saw they were safely behind glass).
But a printout my mom gave us intrigued him most of all. No matter how many times I stowed that “Pretzel Focaccia” recipe in my bag – assuring him we’d try this at home after my no cooking vacation – the page (with photo!) kept reappearing on the kitchen counter of our rental house, my son standing over it, mesmerized. Well, he knows what he likes!
That’s the view from here - more soon!
