Greetings! Hope the weather is fine where you are! Over here, it’s like this:
When we return home from an afternoon out, my son spends the first few minutes putting things back where they belong. A few weeks ago, he came up to me asking for something that sounded like “tuh,” but I couldn’t catch it. This is a frequent puzzle here, when he doesn’t know the name of the thing he needs. If I ask him to repeat his request, he whispers it, nervous that he must be saying it wrong. This time, I didn’t understand what he wanted until he went digging in my purse, retrieving the pillbox that usually sits on his kitchen counter (but I take with us if we leave).
Even when I wrote out “pillbox” to practice with him, he still called it a mumbled “t”-word for a few days. But why? His dad guessed maybe he was reading a label on the box. Sure enough – barely visible beneath the dose-time stickers I’d added on top, this box I’ve been re-using is stamped “Tues.” My kid was relieved when I confirmed with him that “Tues” was what he was saying – and after a few practice-rounds with the correct word, now he can retrieve “pillbox” when he needs it!
That’s the view from here - more soon!
